ABOUT THE TEACHER:
Canda Daryl Nixon Fisher is an Atlanta – based vocalist, arranger, songwriter, voice instructor, coach and mentor, with over 20 years developing vocal talent. Canda’s signature vocal style embodies a fusion of classic soul, rhythm & blues, and jazz, and delivers with grace velvety vocals and lyrics hypnotic to the soul, lulling listeners into a state of total relaxation.
Originally from Maryland, at the age of 2, Canda first started to sing to her grandfather while sitting atop of his upright piano. At an early age, she became influenced by her father’s jazz collection which included renowned vocalists Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn, Nancy Wilson, Teena Marie, Phyliss Hyman and Sade Adu.
Canda learned a great deal from her classical studies, as they helped develop the vocal endurance she skillfully applies today, however ultimately Canda chose to follow her love of performing soul and jazz. She went on to perform professionally and in the studio, collaborating with many musicians and songwriters, writing and sharing life’s experiences over dramatic instrumentals and groove like beats. From her musical journey she is passionate about offering crossover technique, diction, dramatic interpretation and how to successfully perform contemporary and secular music. Having taught ages 10-adult and offering group vocal workshops to students 9 and under, Canda believes every turn you take on your musical journey has purpose, and is passionate about teaching vocalists versatility, musicianship, and how to discover who they truly are through their innate ability to Think, Create, and Perform.
