Jolie Musique Studio - Cary

Policy and Terms of Service

Introduction
The following agreement is established between Jolie Musique Studio (hereafter referred to as “The School”) and the cardholder paying for services provided by the school (hereafter referred to as “The Student”). This agreement will also apply, wherever eligible by law, to any other individual receiving lessons in the stead of the cardholder (i.e. their spouse, friend, relative, et cetera).

Jolie Musique Studio operates in semester format. Each semester has 16 weeks of lessons. Fall semester is September-January, and Spring is February – June. To encourage the student’s growth as a musician, each student is required to commit by the semester.

Payments

Payments are required to confirm registration; The School reserves no lesson times or class slots for The Student until either their one-time trial lesson is held or once payment has been made towards The Student’s tuition. Payment plan dates are set by The School and run automatically.

A $25 Late Payment Fee will be issued if an automatic payment is late. The Student has 48 hours to settle their account. After 48 hours, a $25 missed payment fee will be applied. Classes and lessons may be paused at The School’s discretion if payments are not received. Any lessons and classes missed during a pause for non-payment will be forfeited. Please note that if The Student has a past due balance, they will not be able to re-enroll until the balance is paid in full.

POLICIES

Consistent weekly lessons are important for artistic growth and development. If the teacher is absent, they will schedule a makeup lesson with The student at an agreed-upon time.

Lesson Cancellations

The Student is responsible for attending all lessons. However, The Student is allowed TWO makeup lessons per semester. To qualify for a makeup lesson, cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Makeups must be scheduled within 30 days of the canceled lesson, or before the end of your semester, whichever comes first.

Lessons that fall on a one-day holiday may be rescheduled to a different day of the same week, with 24 hours’ notice.

Single lessons may be canceled or rescheduled. The 24 hours rule applies.

Lateness

If The Student joins the lesson late, the instructor will only teach until the lesson’s scheduled endpoint. If 10 minutes of the lesson has passed, the teacher is not obligated to stay for the remainder of the time.

MUSIC

Every student needs a 3-ring binder in which to keep their music and lesson materials. Students are responsible for the cost of new materials including sheet music, and accompaniment tracks. Materials are not covered by tuition. Students must bring their music to every lesson.

PRACTICE makes progress

A student’s progress is determined by dedicated practice. Ideally, students should practice at least 3-4 days a week. Students should practice long enough to complete their weekly assignments. Continued failure to practice may result in dismissal.

Instrument requirements

Piano students should ideally have access to a piano or keyboard with weighted keys. This is essential for healthy development of hand strength.. Voice students are encouraged to use a keyboard for practice as well. I am happy to recommend one to fit your specific needs.

Recitals

There will be TWO recitals per school year, one in the fall, and one in the Spring. This is a great opportunity to showcase what we work on in our lessons. Students are encouraged to participate in at least one of them.

Discontinuation of Private Lessons

If for any reason, The Student wishes to cancel their enrollment in private lessons, they must contact their teacher at [email protected] to provide notice 15 days prior. No refund will be given for prepaid lessons.

Jolie Musique Studio  reserves the right to dismiss any student at any time for any reason.

Temporary Pause of Lesson

The Student may pause lessons with two weeks’ notice. Any remaining lessons not used within six months of the date lessons are placed on pause are forfeited. No refunds will be issued for forfeited lessons.

Teacher Absences

The Student understands that teachers may be required to reschedule lessons due to illness, personal matters, and other reasons. Instructors will make reasonable efforts to follow the same standards regarding makeup lessons that The Student abides by, rescheduling on a date and time suitable to The Student.

Recorded Makeup Lessons

The Instructor may elect to record (with a web camera or similar device) a lesson to be viewed by the student, as an alternative to a makeup lesson in response to an absence on the part of the Instructor OR The Student. This recorded lesson need not last the full duration of a standard lesson but is intended as a supplement in cases where recorded makeup lessons are preferred by both The Student and The Instructor, or makeup lessons are not possible within the allowed time.

Summer Policies

Summer package options will be emailed in the spring.

Notice of Changes in Agreement
